What's New

Overview

  • A brand new course in Hate Crime has been released.

  • The Oliver McGowan eLearning has received some updates.

  • Medication Administration Awareness eLearning has been reviewed to be more suitable for learners working in the community.

Released in February

Hate Crime

This course empowers you to make a real difference by building confidence to recognise and challenge hate crime when it happens. Through realistic scenarios, you'll gain practical skills, knowing exactly how to respond to difficult situations, whilst keeping everyone safe. You'll understand your rights, ensuring you can speak up without fear of retaliation. Most importantly, you'll be equipped to create safer, more inclusive environments, directly improving care quality and workplace culture whilst fulfilling your professional duty to uphold dignity and human rights. This new course will help you:

• Recognise hate crime and incidents

• Respond effectively

• Support victims appropriately

• Report hate crime confidently

• Understand your legal duties and protections in the workplace

On 6 February we added the workbook, referenced in the eLearning activity, to the course. On 23 February we were informed the pre and post evaluation forms had been taken down by elfh, and we removed them from the course the same day. Any new users or reset users will immediately see they have gone and the workbook has appeared. For any users who were previously registered, and are Not Started or Incomplete, we advise Administrators follow these steps>

Medication Administration Awareness

Following feedback from our community based customers, we've been through the course and ensured relevance to both community and residential services. For example, the safe storage methods in home care have been added, and reiterating the need to check the plan of care as some individuals in their own homes will need support with taking their medication.

Acquired Brain Injury

We've enhanced this course to give learners a richer understanding of acquired brain injury, with expanded information on brain structure and the nervous system providing a stronger clinical foundation. Updated video content and accurate transcripts improve accessibility, alongside the removal of inaccessible components and punctuation, spelling, and grammatical improvements throughout.

Catheter Care

We've refreshed this course following subject matter expert review, ensuring all clinical content is accurate and reflects current best practice. We replaced inaccessible components to improve the learning experience for all users, and carried out thorough accuracy checks throughout to ensure the guidance remains safe, reliable, and fit for real-world application.

Eating Disorders

Following expert review, we’ve enhanced this course by refining for clarity, correcting any inaccuracies, and improving the explanation of key concepts. We updated the language to eliminate ambiguity, incorporated essential contexts such as mental health and inclusive practices, and streamlined key messages to ensure the guidance is accurate, consistent, and applicable to real-world situations.

Substance Misuse

We've strengthened this course by reorganising information for clearer navigation, simplifying complex language, and improving overall clarity throughout. We enhanced emergency response guidance to provide more decisive action steps, updated health information with current support services and resources, and improved formatting for better readability and accessibility.

Self-harm

Following expert review, we've strengthened this course by updating information on high-risk groups to reflect current understanding, making grammatical improvements for clearer communication, and enhancing accessibility throughout. We refined harm minimisation advice to provide more practical guidance, ensuring the content is accurate, consistent, and effective for real-world practice.

Care Certificate

We've launched an updated workbook, an editable PDF, which will be available to any newly registered users. For standard 16, you'll see we are leaving this to the customer discretion. If required, the Oliver McGowan eLearning is available on our platform, please follow the link for guidance on requesting it. The revised workbook is also available for download here>

Sexuality & Relationships in LD

This course has been updated to improve clarity, accuracy and inclusivity in line with current UK guidance. Changes include refreshed terminology around gender expression and sexual orientation, more precise neurological language, clearer information on abuse risks for young people with learning disabilities, improved legal accuracy on sexual offences and consent, and reinforced messaging that safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. Released 16 January

Legionella Awareness

We've updated the course to improve accuracy on temperature ranges for legionella growth, clarified notification procedures for legionnaires disease, refined guidance on shower maintenance and flushing protocols, expanded symptom descriptions, and corrected technical details about air conditioning systems and risk assessment review frequencies to align with current HSE guidance. Released 28 January

Working at Height

We’ve improved this course to make it clearer, more accurate, and fully up to date. We replaced outdated or incorrect statistics with verified 2024/25 HSE data so learners get reliable insight into both fatal and non‑fatal incidents. We also clarified when the Work at Height Regulations apply, giving a more practical explanation to help learners understand real‑world situations. Sections of content have been refined to reflect how the course is applicable across different sectors. Released 29 January

Safeguarding and Protection of Adults

We’ve strengthened this course by clarifying scenarios, correcting legal references and definitions, and improving how safeguarding actions are explained. We updated language to remove ambiguity, added missing contexts such as modern slavery and domestic abuse, and refined key messages to ensure the guidance is accurate, consistent, and safer for real‑world practice. Released 29 January

Fluids & Nutrition

This course has been updated following expert review to improve accuracy and practical guidance on nutrition and food safety in care homes. Key updates include clearer information on oral nutritional supplements and fluid calculations, improved food‑handler hygiene guidance, streamlined food safety content, corrected Eatwell Guide terms, enhanced mealtime environment advice, and expanded cleaning procedures. These changes ensure you have up‑to‑date, practical guidance to support individuals nutrition and maintain safe food standards. Released 31 January
