Overview

Subject matter experts continue to review our courses on a periodic cycle and, whilst implementing their feedback, the team ensure the latest quality and consistency guidance is applied.

Find out more about phasing out inbuilt voiceover.

We've decided to bring a new design to the downloadable Course Resources PDF that we provide with our courses. The new design is balanced with visual elements, allowing for a better alignment between text and graphics.

The new design follows a more subtle colour palette and ensures accessibility with the appropriate font format and page layout.

Additionally, we're providing a short description along each hyperlink. The new design focuses on accessibility and blends both text and graphic elements better.

The new design helps you:

  • Recognise the hyperlink's purpose.

  • Explore the hyperlinks based on your interests with reduced click fatigue.

  • Associate the description of each hyperlink with your knowledge gaps.

  • Avoid cognitive overload and only retain information that is relevant to you.

Released in January

Bed Rails

The course content and assessment have been evaluated by our Subject Matter Expert and are confirmed to remain compliant. We've decided to focus on enhancing our learning experience by updating the course with more accessible components and replacing hotspots or flip-card components.

We've removed any hyperlinks within the course content and provided a downloadable resources document with further guidance on Bed Rails Risk Assessment to access easily anytime.

We've also updated terminology to better cater for our customer base by replacing the word "client" with "individual".

The course update helps you:

  • Have a better learning experience on different devices with accessible components.

  • Engage on a deeper level with the course content with up-to-date terminology.

  • Easily access downloadable resources for further learning.

Record Keeping

The course content and assessment have been reviewed and are confirmed to remain compliant. We have decided to bring updates on minor accessibility issues, by removing any hyperlinks that drive the learner away from the course content and providing a downloadable resource to learn on the go.

We've made terminology improvements, replaced inaccessible components and corrected any typos.

The course update helps you:

  • Access further learning about The Code provided by NMC The Nursing and Midwifery Council.

  • Navigate the course content with improved accessibility components.

  • Learn on the go with downloadable resources.

Food Allergies

The course and its resources have been reviewed and remain compliant. Following the review of the assessment, a small error has been identified and fixed. Released in February Equality & Diversity Our Subject Matter Expert has evaluated the course content and assessment and confirmed the course is compliant.

However, to improve the learning experience, we decided to replace inaccessible components such as oversized accordions and flip cards. This will help facilitate easy navigation across multiple devices. We also updated a graphic illustration in the "Our responsibilities" lesson to maintain visual consistency.

Minor updates were also made to grammar and punctuation for the sections with listed text. Additionally, we enhanced further learning by providing more information and useful links on the Codes of Practice for all staff working in social care across all UK Nations and inclusive language guides. All the relevant links are now available in the downloadable resources.

The course update helps you:

  • Navigate and digest the course content easily with improved accessible components.

  • Build further knowledge on equality and diversity good practices with the Codes of Practice.

  • Use and improve your inclusive language and terminology skills to promote anti-discriminatory communication.

  • Reduce cognitive overload with downloadable resources to learn on the go.

Topical Medication

Sharan Giller, MRPharmS (The Medications Management Group), has reviewed the course content and assessment to ensure compliance. External links have been relocated to the resources page, where new safety information on paraffin-based emollients has also been added. The Resources page has been updated with short descriptions for each hyperlink.

Additionally, updates have been made to the record-keeping section, and some components have been replaced to enhance accessibility. Information on topical medications, including creams and emollients and their application, has also been revised.

The course update helps you:

  • Remain up to date with paraffin-based emollients.

  • Ensure record keeping is more accurate.

  • Have a better learning experience on different devices with accessible components.

  • Easily access downloadable resources for further learning.

Original Pack Dispensing

Sharan Giller, MRPharmS (The Medications Management Group), has reviewed the course content and assessment to ensure compliance. External links have been relocated to the resources document which has also been updated with short descriptions for each hyperlink.

The voiceover has been removed, and inaccessible components have been replaced for accessibility reasons. Outdated references to Lloyds Pharmacy have been taken out, as have the inaccessible MAR Chart images previously provided by Lloyds Pharmacy. (For more information on MAR charts, please see our dedicated training on this subject.)

The course update:

  • Confirms the course remains up to date.
