Enable and customise certificates

Guidance on how to create or edit certificates awarded to users after completing the content.

Written by Liam Smith

Administrators can create certificates for users who complete training. Users then view or download them for their records. This helps track completion of specific modules or courses.

📌 Note: For events, the date shown on a certificate is the event end date.

To do this, follow the relevant steps below.

Enable a certificate

  1. Click Content, then click All content.

  2. Search for the relevant content, then click Common Tasks.

  3. Click the Certificate tab, then toggle on Award certificate on completion.

  4. Click Save.

Set a certificate expiry date

There are three available certificate expiry date options, detailed in the below table.

Status

Notes

Does not expire

Certificate has no set expiry date

Valid for

Set expiry date by years and/or months.

Valid until

Set a specific date the certificate will be valid until.

To set a certificate expiry date, follow the below instructions.

  1. Click Content, then click All content.

  2. Search for the relevant content, then click Common Tasks.

  3. Click Certificate tab, then, under Certificate Expiry, select the drop-down menu.

  4. Select relevant option, then click Save.

Certificate style

You can select between Graphical or Letter certificate style depending on your preference.

Graphical certificates are populated with the user name, module name and assessment score (if applicable), so you don't need to add these fields to the certificate message.

Customise a certificate

You can add a custom certificate message using message fields to populate key information. Fields are grouped into sections: Module, Profile, and Form or Event.

📌 Note: Form and Event fields will only be available if the corresponding training is either Form or Event module.

To add message fields to your certificate message, follow the below steps.

  1. Click Content, then click All content.

  2. Search for the relevant content, then click Common Tasks.

  3. Click Certificate tab.

  4. Click Show Message Fields.

  5. Select the relevant fields to add to the certificate.

  6. Repeat steps 5 and 6 as required.

  7. Click Save.

Add image or logo to a certificate

Administrators and content creators can add an image to a certificate for a specific module or course by editing the certificate message in the respective content.

To add an image to a certificate for a specific module or course, follow the below steps.

  1. Click Content, then click All Content.

  2. Click Find or Manage, then search for and select the relevant content.

  3. Click the Certificates tab.

  4. In the Certificate Message box, click the insert image icon on the toolbar.

  5. Click Upload, then click Browse for an image.

  6. Click OK, then click Save.

🤓 Tip: Super administrators on Access LMS² sites can set an image on the certificate template that appears on all certificates on Access LMS Evo. Certificate templates are part of the site theme accessed in site settings.

Certificate scores

Certificate scores are calculated taking into account all the score-based activities present in a course. If there are multiple assessments in a course, all the scores will be added and an average calculated, resulting in the final certificate score.

If you or another user has a low certificate score for a course, check all the content in the course to see which are score-based. Any modules which have Score selected in the Rollup Settings section are used to calculate the overall certificate score of the course.

To find out which activities are set as score-based for a course, follow the below steps.

  1. Click Content, then click All Content.

  2. Click Manage, then search for and select the relevant course.

  3. Click Modules, then, next to All Modules, click Edit.
