Our eCompetency courses are interactive, game-based competency assessments designed to evaluate users on specific skill areas. They offer a fun and engaging way to demonstrate competency in key topics.

Pass mark criteria

To successfully pass an eCompetency course, users must achieve a minimum score of 70%.

If the score is 70% or higher, the course is marked as complete.

Course structure and completion rules

It’s important that users understand how progress within the course is tracked, as this affects their ability to pass:

Three room course layout

eCompetency courses are structured across three rooms, each containing different challenges and activities.

To complete the course successfully, all three rooms must be finished.

Complete each room in one sitting

Once a user enters a room, they must complete it in a single sitting.

  • If the user exits the course partway through a room, any progress or points gained in that room may be lost.

  • The system doesn't allow returning to a room once it’s been entered and exited prematurely.

These restrictions ensure fairness and maintain the integrity of the competency assessment.

Reset a failed attempt

If a user scores below 70%, the result is a fail and the course remains as incomplete.

To reset the course for another attempt, someone with Administrator permissions needs to perform a reset status action. This allows the user to retake the assessment and aim for a passing score.

Additional support for repeated failures

If a user is failing an eCompetency course repeatedly, it may indicate that they’re struggling with the underlying knowledge rather than the assessment itself.
In these cases, we recommend that their competency be assessed in person. This ensures they receive the support they need and fully understand the material before attempting the online assessment again.
