Sepsis Awareness
In collaboration with our Subject Matter Expert, we have decided to update the course content along with the assessment to ensure compliance is met. Several updates made to the course content regarding more in-depth signs and symptoms of sepsis in adults and children.
We've removed out of date and incorrect content such as other names for sepsis. We have added examples of conditions that are prone to sepsis, such as diabetes, or those with a weak immune system due to various treatments, for example, chemotherapy. We've explained more in-depth about how damaged capillaries and low blood pressure can lead to vital organ failure.
We've provided examples of drug therapy for sepsis treatment, such as antibiotic, antifungal or antiviral medication, depending on the pathogen that is causing the infection. Accessibility improvements have been made by removing hyperlinks within the course content and providing a resource document for the learner.
We've replaced out of date and inaccessible interactive components.
The course updates will help you:
Strengthen your knowledge about how sepsis occurs.
Identify why a systemic infection can lead to organ failure.
Recognise signs and symptoms in adults and children.
Identify individuals prone to develop sepsis due to other medical conditions.
Navigate the course Resources to learn more.
