If a user's progress is reset before they complete an event, their registration can become linked to the wrong programme entry. This means their completion does not roll up correctly. You can resolve this straight away by re-registering the user, and set up the event programme to prevent it from happening again.
Resolve the issue
Switch to admin view.
Click Content, then click All Content.
Search for and select the relevant event programme, then click View.
Click on the affected user.
Click Select an Action, then click Cancel.
Choose a cancellation reason, then click Confirm.
With the same user still selected, click Select an Action, then click Change Event.
Choose the correct event, then click Confirm.
Prevent the issue
To prevent progress tracking issues in annual event programmes, such as fire safety training, use one of the following setup methods.
Option 1: Holding event with manual allocation
📌 Note: This method requires you to manage user allocations manually. We recommend using reporting to track user movements.
With this method, users automatically register for a holding event, and you manually move them to the appropriate event. If a user's progress is reset, they automatically return to the holding event and do not need to self-register again.
In the event programme
Switch to admin view.
Click Content, then click All Content.
Click Events, then click the Event Programme tab.
Search for and select the relevant event programme, then click Manage.
Turn on the Automatic Registration toggle, then select Register users to a holding event.
Select the holding event, then click Save.
Click Common Tasks, then select the Users and Rules tab.
Click Add Rule, then select Create a Unique Rule and click Next.
Select the relevant filters for your user group, then click Next.
Select Check rule automatically, then select Indefinitely.
Click Reset Progress, then click Every and set the interval to one year.
Click Finish.
In the events (excluding the holding event)
For each event in the programme (excluding the holding event), click Manage, then click Registration Details.
Clear the Enable Registration checkbox, then click Save.
Option 2: Self-registration with approval
With this method, users register themselves for events, and approval rules control access based on their status. This offers greater flexibility but requires line manager involvement, automation setup, and user training.
In the event programme
Switch to admin view.
Click Content, then click All Content.
Click Events, then click the Event Programme tab.
Search for and select the relevant event programme, then click Manage.
Turn off the Automatic Registration toggle, then select the Self Registration Enabled checkbox and click Save.
Click Common Tasks, then select the Users and Rules tab.
Click Add Rule, then select Create a Unique Rule and click Next.
Choose the relevant filters for your user group, then click Next.
Select Check rule automatically, then select Indefinitely.
Click Reset Progress, then click Every and set the interval to one year.
Click Finish.
In the events
For each event in the programme, click Manage, then click Registration Details.
Select the Enable Registration checkbox.
Under approval options, select either Approval required by Line Manager or Approval required by Team Leader.
Under approval rules, set Approve - Not Attempted users and Reject - Completed users.
Click Save.
📌 Note: To allow early re-completion, select the Reset progress before approval checkbox.
