We’ve been continuing with our subject matter expert reviews, ensuring the content remains compliant.

The updates account for the latest regulatory and legislative requirements, meaning companies can be confident the content Access is providing is relevant, and accurate. It affords their staff flexibility to learn how best works for them – be that desktop, tablet, or mobile.

Footcare

The Subject expert reviewed Footcare to ensure it was up-to-date and compliant.

There were minor changes made, including changing the terminology from chiropodist to foot health practitioner or podiatrist. The course has also been through a graphics update.

Wound care management

The Subject expert reviewed wound care management and the graphics throughout the course have been updated. A new lesson was added to cover skin tears.

We've added further information about risk assessment tools. Updated information around digital imaging complying with ensuring safeguarding and policies are followed.

Additional First Aid

The course style and graphics have been updated. The Subject expert has updated the content:

  • Treatment for burns: removed reference to painkillers, no medications or creams of any type should be given.

  • Types of Bleeding: added to apply direct pressure to the wound for a minimum of 10 minutes. Casualties on blood thinning medications may need longer as they bleed for much longer.

  • Treatment for Broken Bones: updated content - if the casualty can move, get them to a hospital or minor injury unit without using an emergency ambulance. Call NHS 111 for advice.

  • Stroke: added is their smile equal on both sides of their face? Ask (people who know them - if they are present) if this is normal for them. and, when raising their arms get them to close their eyes while they do this test.

The following courses are being reviewed at present by Subject experts, and we hope to update them before the New Year; details will be included in the January release notes:

  • Clinical Governance.

  • Conflict Management.

  • Professional Boundaries.

  • Personality Disorder.

  • MCA & DoLS.
