The three new epilepsy courses are now all available for allocation. Subject matter experts continue to review our courses on a periodic cycle, and whilst implementing their feedback, the team ensure the latest quality and consistency guidance is applied. This includes accessibility considerations.
Released in October
Epilepsy awareness: Managing epilepsy
Following our two new epilepsy awareness titles in conjunction with our partner - Epilepsy Action, we've released a third, more in-depth course. The course is suitable for care and support staff across all levels.
If you work with individuals with epilepsy, you have a responsibility to help them stay safe. This includes completing risk assessments, following their epilepsy care plan, helping them with medication administration and recording seizures correctly.
And first and foremost, you will need to understand how their epilepsy affects different aspects of their lives.
The new course will help you:
Increase awareness of the basic principles of epilepsy diagnosis and treatment.
Report and record information about a person’s epilepsy accurately.
List some key considerations for administering epilepsy medicine.
Identify the main health and safety risks for a person with epilepsy, including epilepsy-related death.
Explain how risk management can be used to provide safe, person-centred care.
Released in November
Infection Prevention Control (and Infection Prevention Control in Community Care)
Our Subject Matter Expert reviewed the courses and deemed the content remains compliant. However, to ensure the courses are more inclusive and relevant for all learners, we decided to remove the Oaks Care Home case study and replace it with a different situational question, more accurately reflecting the lesson content.
To improve user experience and accessibility, we also removed the in-built voice-over, added a text-reader-friendly course transcript and replaced inaccessible flip card components.
The course updates will help you:
Stay compliant.
Test your knowledge about the correct use of PPE.
Navigate the course more easily.
Download and use the course notes to help you learn on the go and remember more for longer.
Still to come this month
