Subject matter experts continue to review our courses on a periodic cycle and, whilst implementing their feedback, the team ensure the latest quality and consistency guidance is applied.

Released in November

Child Sexual Exploitation

Following review by our subject matter expert, some changes and updates were made to reflect recent legislation. Specifically, a person between 16-18 is still at risk; reworded paragraphs around those at specific risk; the section on ethnicity has been removed as outdated and unreliable.

The interim report is now live, and so the text has been updated to reflect this.

Lesson: Spotting the signs of CSE has an updated description of CSE and reiterates any of the signs are a concern; additional signs and symptoms have been added. Lesson: The grooming process now ensures the groomer may be known to the CYP/their family, and new case examples added to the lessons See it, Report it, Document it, Told it, Report it, Document it and Complaints and whistle-blowing.

The course has been reworked into a more concise and accessible format, including removing inbuilt voiceover.

The course updates help you:

  • Better identify those at risk.

  • Spot more signs.

  • Access and navigate the course content easily.

Dementia Awareness

Following a comprehensive review by our subject matter expert, we have made updates to the statistics in the lesson Dementia Facts.

In addition, we've removed the built-in voiceover and any inaccessible components to align with accessibility guidelines, enhancing the overall user experience.

The course updates help you:

  • Understand more about the prevalence of dementia.

  • Navigate the course more easily on any device.

  • Further your knowledge by using the downloadable Resource.

  • Access the course on the go and retain more information thanks to downloadable course notes.

Autism and Learning Disabilities eLearning courses

In response to overwhelming feedback from your organisations, we're pleased to announce that we reinstated the Autism eLearning Course and the Learning Disabilities eLearning Course from 5 December 2024.

Why are we doing this?

After meeting with several of our customers and listening to your feedback, we’ve accepted you find the Oliver McGowan eLearning Course (Part 1) insufficient for your needs. Reinstating the Autism eLearning Course and the Learning Disabilities eLearning Courses ensures the available courses are better aligned with the specific learning needs and priorities you’ve identified.

We appreciate your input and are committed to ensuring our training offerings meet the highest standards of relevance and impact.

Released in December

Communicating in Sign

Our subject matter expert gave us some more modern statistics and references to use in the introduction and the lesson on Hearing loss and support.

To improve accessibility, we removed the inbuilt voiceover, removed statistics and external links that drive the learner outside of the learning experience, and replaced inaccessible components following best practices and accessibility guidelines.

The course update help you:

  • Stay compliant, while minimising cognitive overload.

  • Navigate the course more easily, particularly if you have accessibility needs.

  • Download and use the course notes to help you learn on-the-go and remember more for longer.

Diabetes Awareness

Our Subject Matter Expert has reviewed the course content and assessment and deemed that they remain compliant. However, we've added additional information on monitoring diabetes and a personal HbA1c target goal.

We also improved the learner experience and course accessibility by removing unnecessary statistics, adding more practical knowledge checks, replacing and removing inaccessible components, and adding a course transcript. This also helps minimise click fatigue.

The course update help you:

  • Understand and monitor diabetes better.

  • Test your understanding of different types of diabetes and how different foods can impact blood glucose levels.

  • Access and navigate the course content easily.

  • Downloadable course notes to aid learning on the go, helping you retain information for longer.

COSHH

To deliver a best-in-class learning experience, we've rationalised this title with the Health and Safety catalogue and retired the existing HSC content.

📌 Note: If learners are still working through an archived course, the retired content may remain visible. To resolve this, please reset their progress, and the archived modules no longer appear.

Hoarding & Clutter

Our Subject Matter Expert has reviewed the course content and assessment, and both remain compliant. We decided to improve the learner experience and accessibility by removing the hyperlinks and providing a downloadable Resource module to facilitate further learning.

We improved accessibility issues by replacing and removing inaccessible components, this also minimises click fatigue.

The course update helps you:

  • Explore the course content more easily and avoid click fatigue.

  • Use the course resources to access further information on the topic (should you wish to do so).

  • Download and use the course notes to help you learn on-the-go and remember more for longer.

Prevent

We've upgraded the content to the newly evolved Preventing Radicalisation and Extremism course. We’ve had this mapped by a qualified assessor against the CSTF, see pages 19 and 20.

📌 Note: If learners are still working through an archived course, the retired content may remain visible. To resolve this, please reset their progress, and the archived modules no longer appear.
