Administrators and content creators can create assessments, fed by question banks, to test user knowledge of undertaken training.

This guidance is to create a standalone assessment, which can remain standalone or be added to a course later.

To create an assessment, watch this video or follow the steps below.

Create the assessment

  1. Switch to admin view.

  2. Click Content, then click All Content.

  3. Click Assessment, then enter a name for the assessment.

  4. Click Create Assessment, then click the Details tab.

  5. Enter a description and objective.

  6. Click Save.

Set up questions

Add questions to the assessment. Questions can be sourced from existing question banks available to your organisation.

  1. Click the Questions tab, then click Add Questions.

  2. Select relevant question bank from the list.

  3. By default all questions in the question bank are selected. Click Add Questions to continue, or click Pick Individual Questions to include or exclude as needed.

  4. Click Add Questions.

  5. Set how many questions should be used for the assessment using the Questions free-text field.

  6. Select Overall Assessment Park mark, then set a pass mark for the assessment.

  7. Select Mark as Completed even if failed for users to complete the assessment, even if they fail.

    • This allows users to accrue CPD credits for the assessment attempt in accordance with the professional bodies’ CPD scheme.

    • If not selected and a pass mark is set for the assessment, users can only add a reflective statement and gain the associated CPD credits if passed.

  8. Select Normal or Negative marking.

    • Set Don't know as a possible answer by selecting Show Don't Know answer.

    • Use negative marking to designate how many marks are awarded for correct answers, and if any marks will be lost for incorrect or 'Don't Know' answers.

  9. Click Save to apply changes.

Add another section of questions

  1. Click Order to choose if questions are randomised, or in order of sections and question.

    • If using the Section and question option to structure your Assessment, click Add Section to add more questions.

  2. Select overall assessment pass mark, or how many correct answers required to pass assessment. If using sections, name each section here.

  3. To set different pass marks, select Pass Mark box for the section, then choose the pass mark.

  4. Click Save.
