Course Description

This course explores the claims management company (CMC) groups and activities that the FCA authorises and regulates, and the rules and guidance set out in the FCA's Claims Management: Conduct of Business Sourcebook (CMCOB). Through interactive modules and a practical case study, you'll develop a comprehensive understanding of CMC regulatory requirements and how to apply them in practice.

By the end of the training, learners will be able to:

  • identify the claims management company groups and activities regulated by the FCA, and explain the regulatory standards that apply to them

  • apply the CMCOB rules and guidance across four key areas: conduct of business, generating, obtaining and passing on leads, recording and retention of telephone calls and electronic communications, and financial promotions.

  • demonstrate how CMCs must provide information to customers at first contact to enable informed decision-making

  • describe CMC obligations throughout the customer journey, from agreement through to claim progression.
