Policies & Precedents
People Management Procedures (v1.5)
Updated on a light touch basis to refer to neonatal care leave - leave for parents whose babies require specialist hospital care - to reflect the implementation of the Neonatal Care (Leave and Pay) Act 2023 which came into force on 06.04.25 – it is now a statutory entitlement that firms must make staff aware of and facilitate.
People Management Procedures Supporting Documents (v1.5)
Updated to reflect changes to right to work verification procedures effective from 01.01.25, when the Home Office transitioned to digital eVisas and discontinued physical Biometric Residence Permits. The guidance now covers three current verification methods employers must use to check a recruit's immigration status. Reference to verifying practising rights and authority to conduct litigation, where a role involves conducting litigation, in light of the Mazur case has also been added into the list of actions to undertake before a new recruit's first day.
Learning and Development Policy (v2.5)
This update ensures the policy reflects current SRA continuing competence requirements. Key changes include clarification that the "Reflect" step must consider all aspects of practice including ethical and professional obligations, enhanced annual declaration guidance emphasising the importance of evidence and acting honestly and with integrity, and a new mandatory AI training requirement for all staff using AI tools (covering safe use, data protection, accuracy and confidentiality risks).
Learning and Development Policy Supporting Documents (v2.2)
Key changes include a new AI competence reflection section in the Training and Development Needs Questionnaire, an enhanced reflective practice template with competence mapping prompts to drive holistic reflection, an enhanced Training Feedback Form capturing evidence of learning application and gaps remaining, and an evaluation column in the Learning and Development Plan template asking "Did this address your identified need? How do you know?" These changes ensure your learning and development records clearly demonstrate meaningful learning rather than just training attendance, helping you provide evidence to support your annual SRA declaration if requested.
Health & Safety Policy (v2.4)
Key updates include enhanced accident reporting procedures for remote workers, clearer manager responsibilities for employee wellbeing and mental health support, expanded DSE provisions for homeworkers (including self-assessment requirements and manager check-ins), formal appointment of fire marshals with defined responsibilities, specific fire safety guidance for remote workers, first aid procedures for remote work scenarios, and employee obligations have been updated to reflect remote and hybrid working responsibilities.
Health & Safety Policy Supporting Documents (v1.6)
Key updates include enhanced fire safety guidance incorporating the Fire Safety Act 2021 and Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 requirements for annual risk assessments and multi-occupied building responsibilities, clarification of RIDDOR reporting timescales (10 days for incidents, 15 days for over-7-day injuries), practical first aid provision guidance based on employee numbers, and reference to ISO 45003:2021 guidelines for managing psychological health and safety including wellbeing surveys and stress risk assessments.
