Users can amend CPD scheme start dates to change the year-to-year structure of the scheme. Users with the appropriate permissions can update the CPD start date on their own profile or on behalf of others. To do this, follow the relevant instructions below.
⚠️ Important: The CPD system operates continuously in one-year periods without breaks. Changing the CPD start date directly impacts previous year’s completions. If there’s a time gap between the two CPD start dates, any courses completed during that period will be moved to the correct CPD year. As a result, users may appear as not having completed their CPD in previous years if some content shifts to a different CPD year.

Frequently asked questions
Question | Answer |
Can the CPD start date for whole organisation be updated? | CPD start dates are amended on a user by user basis, either by the user themselves or an administrator.
To amend an entire organisation speak to your account manager or customer success manager to discuss. |
If the CPD start date for a user is changed can they retrospectively add CPD contributions for the historic period? | If the CPD start date is changed it changes the date of previous periods in the log too.
The historic period ceases to show in the log and instead the historic CPD will be broken up into periods starting in the updated period.
Records will slot into relevant periods based on their completion date, meaning things may shift around between different years as the dates move around them. |
Can I set a CPD break, where no CPD is recorded? | The CPD system runs continuously in one year periods without breaks, so this isn't possible.
The CPD system is specifically designed to avoid breaks so that CPD doesn’t disappear into invisible holes between periods. |
Will changing the CPD start date affect my ability to create reports based on previous CPD years?
| Unlike the CPD log, historic CPD dates are preserved in the CPD Period Totals reporting data, meaning it can be reported on using periods based on the dates that used at the time.
Historic reporting data in the CPD period totals data source will not be affected by changes to the CPD date. |
