The ambition feature is essentially a goal or outcome that an administrator wants to achieve for their organisation. The chosen ambition displays operational data on the admin homepage relating to what is happening in your organisation, as well as recommended actions to take that are designed to inspire you to achieve your chosen organisation-level goal or outcome.
The default ambition for all sites is the compliance ambition, which dictates these details on the admin homepage.
🤓 Tip: Administrators can choose to change the default ambition displayed to the engagement ambition as needed.
The compliance ambition comprises several elements that make up part of the admin homepage, detailed in the table below. 👇
Feature | Details |
Dynamic greeting | A dynamic greeting that changes depending on time of day (e.g. Good Afternoon, Superstar!) |
Key message | A key message relating to the chosen ambition (i.e. Elevate your compliance game). |
Compliance Score | In the top right-hand corner of your homepage, left of the Daily Essentials panel, the compliance score for your organisation indicates the percentage of users that have completed their mandatory training, based on your chosen criteria for compliance.
For customers on Access LMS², a refresh button is available to trigger an on-demand recalculation of compliance data. Clicking refresh updates the score across the platform for all admins and team leaders. |
Here's what we recommend | Recommended actions that you can take to help you to achieve your goal, including running a compliance report, creating a Spotlight and reviewing email templates. |

Logic calculation
The data shown on your homepage is calculated using logic specific to your organisation’s compliance configuration.
The following exceptions aren't included in the total eligible users count for the compliance score calculations.
Grace period exclusion: Users currently within a grace period are excluded from the total eligible user pool entirely.
Absence reason exclusion: Users with an active absence reason are excluded from the total eligible user pool entirely.
Exemptions: Exempt users are counted as compliant.
Active users and content only: Only active users and active content are included in calculations. Inactive or archived users and content are excluded.
Self-registrations: Self-registered users are excluded from compliance calculations.
Cancelled records: Cancelled registration records are excluded.
📌 Note: The compliance score is learner-based and binary. A learner is either fully compliant or they're not. For example, if one user has completed 100% of their mandatory training and another has completed 80%, the compliance score would be 50% (1 out of 2 fully compliant learners).
The score is based on top level courses that are tagged as mandatory. If you have a course that is not mandatory, and the child modules within it are mandatory, those modules will not impact the compliance score.
See the table below for further details on how the compliance calculations work for each feature. 👇
