⚠️ Important: The below guidance is applicable to customers in LMS² sites.
Super administrators on LMS² sites can add and configure the options for the objectives field in an existing form template. The objectives field can also be used for data fields which behave similarly to objectives, such as development needs or actions.
Follow the relevant guidance to add other types of fields to a form template.
To add the objectives field to a form template, follow the below steps.
Switch to admin view.
Click Tools, then select Template Hub.
Click Form Templates, then search for and select the relevant form template.
Click the Layout Tab, then click the user data icon on the tools palette.
Drag and drop the objectives field to the page within the outlined boxes.
Click the field you've added, then enter a name in the label box.
Enter labels for text input fields in the fields box, with each field on a new line.
Select Enable Objective Ratings to rate users against the item.
Enter the field name for the first rating label then enter the rating values for the user to select, separating values by adding each on a new line.
Select whether to include objectives from other forms with the same objective field item.
Select Mandatory to make user add at least one item in the current stage of the workflow before progressing the form.
Select Allow manager to select status.
Select the stages of the form workflow the field is visible.
Fields information
Field | Information |
Fields | Fields are where the description of the task is entered when a user is completing the form. For example, this could be objective and measure.
Add as many fields as needed. A default comments box is added to document progress.
The first field label in the list becomes the Label button that users click to add a new item. For example, objective becomes add objective. |
Past Objectives | Users completing the form can include existing objectives from other forms.
For objectives to be recognised as applicable between multiple forms, certain elements of the field configuration must be identical across all of the form templates where the objectives field appears. The field label, the choices listed in the fields box, and the ratings labels and values, must all be identical in each relevant form template.
For example, one form template can be for setting goals and objectives for the year ahead. Then another, shorter, one-to-one form template for regular reviews throughout the year.
As long as the objectives fields are identical in each form template the user objectives are available across all forms.
🤓 Tip: Check there are no spaces in any of the above labels as any difference will mean that the objective fields are not identical. |
Manage the editing behaviour
Control who can edit the fields, ratings and comments of the objective field if it is editable across multiple stages of the workflow which are owned by different people.
For example, if you want both the user and manager to be able to add and edit objectives when they are the owner of a stage in the workflow, but you only want the manager to rate the employee and add comments.
To do this, follow the below steps.
Switch to admin view.
Click Tools, then select Template Hub.
Click Form Templates, then search for and select the relevant form template.
Click the Workflow tab, then copy the relevant field to any stage where the owner will be able to add or edit objectives.
Click the Layout tab, then click Objective Field to edit.
Select who can edit the rating, then select Field Editing Behaviour from the list.
Select who can add comments, then click the green tick at the top of the field editor to save.
