⚠️ Important: The below guidance is applicable to customers in LMS² sites.

CPD schemes support organisations in tracking and documenting users’ continuing professional development. Access LMS Evo includes several default schemes designed to meet common compliance needs.

Super administrators on LMS² sites can also create custom CPD schemes. This can be useful in regulated sectors such as healthcare or finance, where employees must meet specific CPD hour requirements to remain compliant or retain certifications.

When configuring a bespoke CPD scheme, it's recommended to define scheme levels and apply scheme rules to ensure proper structure and measurement.

To create a CPD scheme, watch the video or follow the steps below.

  1. Switch to admin view.

  2. Click Settings then click Global Settings.

  3. Click Manage Features tab, then click CPD.

  4. Click Create, then enter a name and description for the scheme.

  5. Select CPD scheme type as required.

  6. Customise the scheme further using the relevant options.

  7. Click Create.

Customisation options

Customise CPD scheme behaviours either during the initial setup or later from the Scheme Settings tab. The below tables outline the available customisation options for each section.

Notes

Count CPD Hours or CPD Value on pathways

CPD schemes include any manually created recommended CPD time assigned to a pathway. This can create duplicates if you've also assigned time to activities within that pathway.

Not available on a Time Spent CPD scheme.

Ignore CPD on pathway children

The recommended CPD time assigned to activities within pathways won't be included. This prevents duplications if you've allocated time to both levels.

Only available if Count CPD Hours or CPD Value selected.

Enable Grouping

Users can group related or similar activities within their CPD Log when there's a common Learning Outcome, Development Need and Reflective Statement. This means they only need to add these details at the group level and not on each activity.

Enable Adjustments

When selected administrators can adjust the CPD target within a user's profile.

Enable Adjustments Rollover

Any outstanding CPD hours for users who haven't met the minimum CPD target for the current CPD year roll over into the new CPD year.

Adjustment Reason Category Group

Select CPD Adjustment Reasons.

Only available when you select Enable Adjustments.
