CPD schemes can be set as an hours based, value based or time spent scheme. This affects how the recommended CPD hours on a module or course is applied to the user's CPD log upon completion.

Further details about each scheme are in the below table.

CPD scheme

Notes

Hours based

Decimal time (for example, 0.5 equals 30 minutes) must be assigned in the recommended CPD box to award CPD for users.

Users receive this time regardless of actual time spent. Leave it blank, and no CPD is awarded.

Choosing an hours based scheme lets you customise how CPD hours count in courses when setting up a scheme.

Value based

A value (for example, 1) must be assigned in the recommended CPD box to award CPD for users.

Users receive this value regardless of time spent. Leave it blank, and no CPD is awarded.

Choosing a Value-based scheme lets you customise how CPD counts in courses when creating a scheme.

Time spent

Decimal time (for example, 0.5 equals 30 minutes) must be assigned in the recommended CPD box to award CPD for users.

If left blank, no CPD is given. Access LMS Evo records actual time spent and awards it as CPD, up to the recommended time, which acts as a cap by default.
